A Message from City Manager Richard Miranda
As an introduction to the new administration of the City of Tucson I feel it is important to communicate the expectations of myself as City Manager. I first want to say I am humbled and honored to hold this position of City Manager, even temporarily. With pride I have had the opportunity to serve this community as an employee for the City of Tucson for almost 37 years.
With my new assignment, my personal mission statement is quite simple: to provide for trust and confidence in the management of our city. I will instill process, order, discipline and accountability for myself by setting standards and goals to meet the expectations of our citizenry. Now is the time for us to be bold and creative. My focus will be developing an environment with a platform for providing excellence in service delivery.
We will concentrate on the fundamentals of how we do business. Economic conditions are tough for our organization and our city. However, the demands for our services have not diminished and those services still must be delivered. Therefore, we must have processes in place that provide for efficiency and economy. The measures of success for us will be in how the community views us, how our city looks, and the quality of life in Tucson.
We will adhere to the democratic process that guides the governance of our City. The community, through the Mayor and Council, sets the policy and direction, and our job is to carry out that direction. I look forward to working together with you to make the City of Tucson the best it can be.
