How Does the Health Insurance Marketplace Affect Me?
If you are enrolled in City of Tucson insurance, nothing has changed.
Click on the links to the left for information about City of Tucson employee and retiree insurance plans.
Details about who can enroll - and when - are in the 2013-14 Employee and Retiree Insurance Handbook.
► Enrolling in coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace does NOT qualify as a life event that would warrant disenrollment from the City’s plan mid-year.
► Likewise, you are not able to join City insurance in the middle of the plan year if you cancel your coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace or in order to fulfill your requirement for having insurance.
* Don't miss the deadlines! Within 31 days after the date of the qualifying event (60 days for birth/adoption):
1. Request your changes via the enrollment system AND
2. Make sure the Benefits Office receives your required supporting documentation.
Both steps are required for coverage requests to be considered for approval.
Retirees wanting to drop coverage may do so at any time.
Forms are on the Retiree Information page.
HOWEVER, retiree dental and vision have continuous coverage provisions.
Dropping coverage may result in being unable to rejoin the plan at a later date.
Visit the Insurance Handbook for details.
