Plastic Bag Working Group

On February 28, 2012 the City of Tucson Mayor and Council unanimously voted to form a plastic bag working group. The purpose of the group is to bring back recommendations to the Mayor and Council within six months on how the City can best reduce consumption of single-use plastic bags and increase current recycling and education efforts. The working group will consist of one member from each of the following:
- Small Business Commission – Represented by Katherine Kent
- Tucson Clean and Beautiful – Represented by Deron Beal
- Climate Change Commission – Represented by Nicole Sweeney
- Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce – Represented by Allyson Solomon
- Environmental Services Advisory Committee – Represented by Wilson Hughes
- Waste Management Services – Represented by Jason Tankersley
- Arizona Retailers Association – Represented by Michelle Ahlmer
- Arizona Food and Marketing Alliance – Represented by Tim McCabe
- Sierra Club – Represented by Gabe Wigtil

The group had their first meeting on Thursday, March 15, 2012. The next meeting will be held Thursday, April 12, 2012, at 8:30 A.M. in the City Hall Building, 255 West Alameda Street, 4th Floor West Conference Room.
