Mayor Rothschild Kicks Off Bike to Work Week - by Biking to Work
The Mayor will help kick off Bike to Work Week Monday morning, April 9, at 7:00 a.m. as he joins other bicyclists, including the Chair of the Tucson-Pima County Bicycle Advisory Committee, and rides a bike to work.
The City of Tucson, through the Pima Association of Governments, recently submitted its application for Platinum Level status as a Bicycle Friendly Community. Platinum status could boost tourism and even affect businesses' choice of where to relocate or expand, as they weigh lifestyle considerations for their employees.
One of the areas assessed in determining Platinum status is how much commuting occurs by bicycle.
"Riding a bike in to work is a great way to start the week," said Mayor Rothschild. "If you can, give it a try."
Bicyclists accompanying the Mayor will meet at the Fountain by Old Main on the University of Arizona Campus on Monday, April 9, 2012, starting at 7:00 a.m.
