Overnight paving and ramp work continues on Interstate 10 between Valencia Road and Rita Road in Tucson this week
The Arizona Department of Transportation continues repaving a segment of Interstate 10 in Tucson this week. Crews will intermittently close one lane and the entrance and exit ramps on eastbound and westbound I-10 nightly from Rita Road to Valencia Road throughout fall 2012. Overnight work will take place from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning as follows:
Monday, Oct. 1
Tuesday, Oct. 2
Thursday, Oct. 4.
During the ramp closures, drivers may use the eastbound and westbound entrance and exit ramps at the adjacent intersections. Message boards and signs will guide drivers through the area.
The work is part of ADOT’s $3.4 million project for continued improvements on I-10 that includes removing the existing top layer of pavement, repairing the concrete pavement beneath the top layer, applying a new, smooth driving surface with rubberized asphalt, installing new roadway markings and reconstructing guardrails along this segment of the highway.
The schedule is subject to change due to a variety of reasons, including weather, availability of materials, and mechanical difficulties. ADOT advises drivers to proceed through or near work zones with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
