INFORMATION SHEET
Women employed by the City of Tucson and Pima County are eligible to be nominated for the 2013 Women in Government Awards, presented by the Pima County/Tucson Women’s Commission.
See below a description of award categories. A nomination form with instructions follows. Supporting documentation, including no more than three letters of support are encouraged, and should be submitted by the nominator along with the nomination form. Please nominate an employee in only one category! If different nominators submit a single name in more than one category we will contact you to ask you to work together to determine the best category for your nomination.
Awards will be presented at a ceremony on March 8, 2013. All nominees will be acknowledged at the event.
AWARD CATEGORIES
LEADERSHIP AWARD
Provide evidence that the nominee has demonstrated extraordinary leadership in her normal job duties or in a special project or circumstance, to make a difference in her department and to the local government system in which she works.
UNSUNG HEROINE
Describe how the nominee has consistently performed her duties above and beyond expectations, without thought of recognition or reward.
TAPESTRY AWARD
This nomination is directed toward support staff members, paraprofessionals and administrative professionals who provide clerical and administrative support without which the business of city and county government would not function efficiently. The award is entitled “Tapestry” because the winner will be someone who weaves together different parts of the office or department to make things work as a whole.
EVOLVING YOUNG WOMAN
This award is for a woman under the age of 25 years. Provide evidence that the nominee has contributed valuable ideas that have helped to advance the mission of her department, and has helped to bring the ideas to fruition.
SISTERHOOD IN GOVERNMENT – A team award
Describe a team or group of women employees who have made a difference in their workplace or profession. Describe why, and how.
