Monday night, Jesse Owens Park hosted the West Coast Ballislife Crew. Ballislife barnstorms the country challenging local players to play basketball at local courts. 1500 people showed up to the event.
Among the players were nationally known figures on the “streetball” circuit such as international slam dunk champion Kenny Dobbs and former Harlem Globetrotter Tor’i “Bionic” Brooks.

On Wednesday, July 21, 2021, crews from Next Generation Electrical, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM), are scheduled to begin work to install a new solar Bike HAWK signal at the Glenn Street and Treat Avenue intersection.

It’s a good week to talk about rainwater and its importance as a potential resource for Tucson. As of this week, 2021’s monsoon total (1.64 inches) has already passed the total for the entire 2020 monsoon season (1.61 inches). Despite the flooded streets and occasional downed tree, we Tucsonans appreciate the relief that monsoon season can give us.

The Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing on the proposed amendment to the Unified Development Code to allow Accessory Dwelling Units Wednesday, July 28 at 6pm. You can submit written comments or request to speak at the hearing by emailing PlanningCommission@tucsonaz.gov.

BrightView Landscaping, under contract with the Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM) Streets Maintenance Division, will begin a palm tree trimming maintenance program for the next six weeks on palm trees in City median islands. There will be intermittent, rolling median travel lane closures as the contractor moves through the project areas. Crews will work from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday.
