The City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) and Tucson Electric Power Company (TEP) are collaborating to improve the city’s street tree canopy. Trees growing into overhead power lines have been regularly pruned with directional and ‘V’ cuts, which reshapes the tree’s canopy into an unnatural shape.

Karin's Budget Note: Tuesday, March 25, 2014

Dear Tucsonans,

On February 7th I shared these thoughts with you regarding the City’s budget:

…The administration and management of Parks and Recreation offers an example of a place to start with that savings approach. Let me first emphasize that the Department employs close to 500 people; collectively they work hard and offer great service to Tucson. In fact, the average Parks employee deserves a revamp of the management and administration of Parks and Recreation just as I believe the public does.

Pantano Road Closure at Tanque Verde Road Overpass

Southbound Pantano Road just north of the Tanque Verde Overpass will be temporarily closed on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 9 a.m. to approximately 1 p.m. The closure of the single lane roadway will allow crews from the Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division to safely remove and replace a streetlight pole.

The narrow width of the roadway does not allow for enough room to accommodate both the equipment needed to complete the work and motor vehicle traffic.
