Grande Avenue - Congress Street to Starr Pass Boulevard Roadway Improvements

On Tuesday, March 18, 2014 crews from Granite Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to improve the roadway conditions on Grande Avenue from Congress Street to Starr Pass Boulevard.  This project is part of the $100 million, five-year street bond program - Road Recovery. The Road Recovery program is funded by voter-approved bonds.

Crews will work Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The project is scheduled to be complete by Friday, March 28, 2014.

Grande Avenue - Congress Street to Starr Pass Boulevard Roadway ImprovementsHoughton Road: Intestate 10 to Dawn Road Resurfacing

On Sunday, March 16, 2014, crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin milling (removing) asphalt and repaving Houghton Road from Interstate 10 to Dawn Road, near the Pima County Fairgrounds.

To minimize the impact on the traveling public, crews will be working from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. until the project is complete, which is on Friday, March 21, 2014.

First Responders Recognition and Response to Autism Training

On a daily basis, police officers, fire fighters and other first responders encounter a multitude of individuals in emergency situations. Just as each emergency differs from the next, so does the individual involved, especially in regards to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). In response to community concerns, the Tucson Alliance for Autism is offering training for both First Responders and Teens/Young Adults with ASD.

Tucson Police to share more of their "typically unseen" work

The Tucson Police Department is using its Facebook and Twitter pages to highlight some of the work it does that often goes unnoticed by the public. In a posting on Facebook, TPD says it "will be highlighting Department related events, activities, and providing more crime prevention information; but most notably will be our effort to highlight the work typically unseen by the public.

Downtown Links: St. Mary's Road Travel Lane Restrictions

On Monday, March 10, 2014, St. Mary’s Road will be reduced to one travel lane in each direction from the westbound I-10 frontage road to Church Avenue.  This restriction will be in place while the contractor completes street lighting and landscape installation. This work is scheduled to be complete at the end of this month.

Left turn movements at the intersection of Granada Avenue and St. Mary’s Road will be maintained. Access to Davis Elementary Road will be maintained, as well as all side street access.

Old Pueblo Gran Prix - Travel Information

On Saturday, March 8, 2014, Downtown Tucson will host the Fourth Annual Old Pueblo Grand Prix. The first of four races begins at 3:15 p.m. and utilizes Church Avenue, Pennington Street, Stone Avenue, Council Street, Meyer Avenue, and Washington Street. There will be a “Fan Fair” located at Jacome Plaza in front of the Main Library. Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), is continuing its crack seal program associated with the voter-approved $100 million, five-year street bond program - Road Recovery.

The dates, work hours and locations for the next set of roadway improvements are listed below. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather.

Monday, March 3 and Tuesday, March 4 - 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

89th Annual Tucson Rodeo Parade - Travel Information

On Thursday, February 20, 2014, Tucson will host the 89th Annual Tucson Rodeo Parade.  The Parade begins at 9 a.m. at Ajo Way and Park Avenue, travels south on Park Avenue to Irvington Road, then turns west on Irvington Road and ends at Sixth Avenue. BROADWAY WORK MOVES TO NIGHTTIME

To lessen the congestion on the traveling public and to stay on schedule, Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will move the crack seal work taking place on Broadway to night hours.  Crack sealing work will take place between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m., Monday through Thursday.

The work on Broadway, from Country Club Road to Wilmot Road is still scheduled to be complete by Friday, March 7, 2014.

VALENCIA ROAD PAVING

On Monday, February 17, 2014, the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Hunter Contracting will be paving Valencia Road at Houghton Road.

Valencia Road will be closed to travel from Houghton Road west to Frost Drive. The paving work is scheduled to be complete in one day. Work hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Northbound and southbound travel on Houghton Road at this location will not be restricted. Motorists needing access to Valencia Road west of Frost Drive are asked to use Rita Road to Nexus Road.
