El Paso and Southwestern Greenway Public Open House

The City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM) is planning a new segment of the El Paso & Southwestern Greenway, an off-street walking and biking path connecting Downtown Tucson to South Tucson and the Kino Environmental Restoration Project. This project is part of the voter-approved Proposition 407 Tucson Delivers Strong Connections Program that will expand the citywide low-stress biking and walking network.

Broadway - Euclid Ave to Country Club Rd Improvement Project - Campbell Closure South of Broadway

The removal of existing asphalt, subgrade preparation and base paving work will take place at the Broadway and Campbell Avenue intersection from 6 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2021, until about 5 a.m. on Monday, August 16, 2021. During this work, the south side of the Broadway and Campbell Avenue intersection will be closed to travel. This work was originally scheduled to take place Friday, July 30, through Monday August 2, but was postponed due to weather.

Median Island Palm Tree Trimming

 

BrightView Landscaping, under contract with the Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM) Streets Maintenance Division, will be trimming palm trees for the next few weeks in City median islands. There will be intermittent, median island travel lane closures as the contractor moves through the project areas. Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Work dates and trimming locations for next week are:

Monday, August 9, 2021 – Miracle Mile from Flowing Wells Road to Oracle Road.

Old Vail Road Closure East of Houghton Road

 

Beginning Tuesday, August 10, 2021, Pulice Construction Inc., under contract with the Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM), is scheduled to close Old Vail Road on the East side of Houghton Road to allow crews to conduct work in the area. Crews will return Wednesday, August 11, and Thursday, August 12, to complete the work. Work will take place from about 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night. Old Vail Road will reopen each morning at approximately 6 a.m.

Paul's Note - July 30, 2021

On August 9th, you’ll see something new on the streets of Tucson: cars with the “Barnacle.” 

The Barnacle will replace the old boots that the police and parking enforcement would put on impounded vehicles. An officer or parking agent will put a sticker on the window with a hearing date and the device, a large yellow cover that prevents vision out of the driver’s side window, will be placed on the car. 

Downtown Links - Fifth Street Closure

Downtown Links Constructors (DLC), under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility are working on the Downtown Links project, which began in August 2020.

Motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians should anticipate intermittent lane restrictions throughout the limits of the project in addition to the following upcoming work:
