This project is part of the RTA Houghton Corridor Improvements that will expand travel capacity and safety in this key north-south regional corridor to accommodate the 2030 traffic demands.
Specifically, this project will replace the existing mile long, two-lane roadway between I-10 and the Houghton Bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad (a project that is also in design). The new roadway will be part of the corridor six-lane divided desert parkway that includes native landscaping with water harvesting, rubberized asphalt for noise mitigation, improved multi model access with ADA accessibility, all weather crossings and public art. This project will also replace a small deficient bridge over the Julian wash with new box culverts. - Additional Info
