Ward 1 Tucson City Council Member Regina Romero, Housing and Community Development, Tucson Parks and Recreation, the Tohono O’odham Nation, and Barrio Anita Neighborhood Association invite you to celebrate the recent reopening of Oury Pool, 655 N. Hughes St.
The celebration at the pool will be held tomorrow, June 8, 1-5 p.m. There will be a news conference, ribbon-cutting, free popsicles, refreshments, and open swim. The pool had been closed since 2011 and was recently renovated.
The project included roof replacement, restroom ADA modifications, new fixtures, partitions, painting, interior lighting, pool replastering, deck resurfacing, and the addition of an ADA drinking fountain. Money was raised in part by a Tohono O’odham Nation Gaming Grant written by Council Member Romero. A Community Development Block Grant also was used.
The pool is open for recreational swim and lessons through July 31. Pool hours are Sunday-Thursday from noon-6 p.m.
