Beginning tomorrow, June 11, travel on Valencia Road, both east and west of Kolb Road will shift to the respective travel lanes. The traffic shift will be in place until the project is finished in late July.
Motorists no longer will travel through the intersection to the southeast ramp to travel eastbound on Valencia Road. Left turns from southbound Kolb Road to eastbound Valencia Road at the intersection will now be allowed. Travel will continue to be restricted to one lane in each direction.
Improvements to Valencia Road, including the intersection with Kolb Road, will increase roadway capacity and enhance safety along the corridor. New bike lanes, sidewalks, drainage structures, lighting, traffic signals, and landscaping will be included in the project.
To date, the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) has invested more than $1 billion in the region to deliver transportation projects and services that improve our region's mobility, safety, economic vitality, and quality of life. The RTA is a state-established political subdivision within Pima County that collects a half-cent excise tax from the RTA's special taxing district.
