Tucson Water has received complaints from customers that someone came to their homes claiming to work for the utility. A story on KOLD News 13 features Public Information Officer Fernando Molina, who says if Tucson Water needs to test the water at a customer’s home, the utility will call or send a letter to schedule an appointment first.
Often the requested access from an impostor is to take samples of tap water in order to sell a water treatment system. Tucson Water conducts more than 14,000 individual tests each year on water in the main distribution system before it reaches customers’ homes.
Molina added that if a person is not wearing a uniform, if they don’t have identification, and if they’re not driving a marked City of Tucson/Tucson Water vehicle, they are not Tucson Water employees.
