The Tucson Fire Department (TFD) yesterday, June 11, responded to two near-drowning calls within two hours of each other on different sides of town. The first involved an approximately 12-year-old male at the 1000 block of East Benson Highway. Initial information provided said the child, who is now recovering, may have been swimming and may have had a medical issue or incident prior to being pulled out of the water. The Tucson Police Department (TPD) also was dispatched to investigate.
The other incident involved an approximately 2-year-old male who was reported to have fallen in a spa at the 9200 block of East La Palma Drive. After successful CPR, the child was taken to a hospital as a precaution. TPD responded to follow up on the events leading up to the call.
TFD reminds you to practice the "ABCs of Water Safety" - Active Adult Supervision, Barriers to Water, and Classes (CPR for adults and swimming for children).
