Celebrate Completion of Kino Parkway - 22nd Street Intersection Improvement Project

Join the City of Tucson and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) this Friday in celebrating the completion of the Kino Parkway – 22nd Street Intersection Improvement Project. The ceremony begins at 9 a.m. at the southwest corner of Kino Parkway and 22nd Street. The project reconstructed one of the busiest intersections in Southern Arizona with the first grade-separated intersection constructed by the City of Tucson.

Professional Bull Riders Coming to TCC This Week

The Professional Bull Riders (PBR) will be competing at the Tucson Convention Center (TCC) Friday and Saturday as part of the elite Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) tour. Five PBR world champions are scheduled to compete in Tucson, including Mike Lee (2004), Guilherme Marchi (2008), Renato Nunes (2010), J.B. Mauney (2013), and three-time World Champion Silvano Alves (2011, 2012, 2014). The 2015 BFTS will conclude Oct. 21-25 in Las Vegas.

Tucson Police Department to Honor Exceptional Employees

The Tucson Police Department (TPD) this weekend will hold a ceremony to present several employees with a Medal of Distinguished Service. The employees chosen embody TPD's values of Service Orientation, Excellence, Leadership, Fairness, Teamwork, Integrity, and Personal Responsibility. The Fall Awards Ceremony will be held Saturday, 10:30 a.m.-noon, at the Marriott University Park Hotel, 880 East Second St.

Volunteer at Tucson Meet Yourself

Volunteer shifts are available to help at the Tucson Meet Yourself folklife festival, Oct. 9-11, in Downtown Tucson. More than 500 volunteers help each year. The volunteer website has all of the job descriptions, shifts, qualifications and online training modules you'll need. How to Handle Illegal Dumping

When moving time comes, typically around the end of the month and the end of University of Arizona semesters, people occasionally dump their trash where it doesn't belong. Property owners are responsible for trash cleanup of items dumped on their property and abutting areas. One option is to use the free Brush and Bulky collection, provided twice a year by the City of Tucson's Environmental Services department.

El Con Water Tower Repairs Complete

The 90-foot-tall El Con Water Tower has a fresh coat of paint and exterior repairs. The $70,000 project, which spanned about three months, included repairing rotted and broken wooden doors, patching stucco, removing water stains, replacing missing roof tiles, and more. The repairs were funded through a 2013 Housing and Urban Development Department Community Development Block Grant for historic preservation activities.
