Jeffery H. Ross Memorial
Alvernon Park serves as a memorial to fallen Tucson Police Officer Jeffrey H. Ross. Officer Ross lived in the Peter Howell Neighborhood near Alvernon Park as a child. Officer Ross, who served with the Tucson Police Department for four years, was killed in the line of duty on February 18, 1982, while working undercover. Officer Ross received the Scarlett Shield for injured officers and is memorialized at Alvernon Park as well as the Tucson Police Department's Memorial Courtyard.
