Plan Tucson, the new City of Tucson General & Sustainability Plan, was ratified by voters at the November 5, 2013 General Election and the results declared on November 13, 2013, Resolution #22160.
The City of Tucson has adopted the 2018 International Building Codes with local amendments. The codes are updated periodically to reflect the latest standards of life-safety and construction technology. The following items can be viewed in the Building Codes web page:

The Unified Development Code & Supporting Documents – the Administrative Manual and the Technical Standards Manual – went into effect on January 2, 2013. These documents replaced the Land Use Code, Development Standards, and the development review procedures in Chapter 23A of the Tucson Code. NOTICE: Newly adopted Sign Standards to go into effect on February 1, 2018.
On December 5, 2017 the City of Tucson Mayor and Council voted to adopt the proposed extensive revisions to the City Sign Code. Those revisions adopted helped to achieve the following goals:
(1) Comply with the 2015 U.S. Supreme Court decision in Reed v. Town of Gilbert (Reed)
(2) Simplify the Sign Code by integrating it into the Unified Development Code
(3) Make practical changes that modernize the Code; Improve the quality of design and flexibility of the overall code, and ground it in technical standards.
