How do I schedule an inspection?
Inspections can be scheduled over the phone or requested online.
Phone: to schedule an inspection call (520) 791-3111 and the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system will guide you through the steps. In order to use the IVR system, you will need your 10-digit activity number(s) and your 5-digit inspection code(s). If you are not sure of the order in which your inspections should be performed, please contact the plans reviewer or the inspections department for guidelines.
The inspection code(s) are used to call in inspections and are attached to your permit based on the type of activity taking place. The inspections that are attached to your permit are printed on your job card.

Online: to request an inspection online, you will need your permit number or license number. The requested inspection date and time will be confirmed with you through email.
Please note the following: Inspections are scheduled one working day after the request is received (staffing and workload permitting). Inspections requested after 3 p.m. will be scheduled two working days after the request is received.
Calling for an inspection does not guarantee that your permit will be extended. Construction permits are valid for 180 days and may automatically be renewed for 180 days with each inspection request, provided progress has been shown on the project. Planning and Development Services Department (PDSD) reserves the right to retain the original expiration date if sufficient progress has not been made. PDSD also reserves the right to charge re-inspection fees if the work to be inspected is not ready for inspection or, if corrections called for on a previous inspection are not complete. One 180 day extension per permit may be requested in writing.
Special Inspections Program:
All requirements for Special Inspections required by the Plan Reviewer or Architect shall be clearly indicated on the construction documents and shall be approved by the City as follows:
Approval shall be based on a list of approved registrants which is currently maintained by the Development & Infrastructure Services for the Town of Oro Valley.

When do I call for an inspection?
Calling for inspections occurs at the different stages of a project. For example excavation and layout would be called for before pouring concrete. If you are unsure of when to call, please contact our office at (520) 791-5550 and speak to a commercial or residential plans examiner or the inspections supervisor.
How do I cancel or reschedule an inspection?
Inspections can be cancelled or rescheduled over the phone or online.
Phone: call (520) 791-3111 and the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system will guide you through the steps. Once you have successfully gone through the system, you will be given a confirmation number. You must have this number in order to cancel the inspection. If you have difficulty with the system, you may press 0 at any time during the process during normal business hours and a staff person will be able to assist you.
Online: to cancel an inspection online, you will need your permit number or license number. If you scheduled your inspection online, you can cancel or reschedule your inspection in your appointment confirmation email.
What do I need at the time of inspection?
You will need to have a copy of your inspection card and a set of the approved plans on-site when your inspector arrives to do the inspection. An adult must be home in order for the inspector to inspect the work being done.
When I call and request and inspection, how soon will it be scheduled?
The inspections are generally made on the next working day after you call and request them. There is a 3 p.m. cut off for next day inspections. This means if you call before 3 p.m. on Monday the inspection should be on Tuesday. However if you call before 3 p.m. on a Saturday or a Sunday the inspection again should be on Tuesday. Weekends and City of Tucson holidays are not considered working days.
Can I leave a message for the inspector?
Yes, you can leave messages for inspectors when you schedule your inspection. Please call (520) 791-3111 and use that menu option.
