Paul's Note - June 4, 2021

We have opened pools on a limited basis this summer, but we still need lifeguards. If you know a young person who is interested in lifeguarding, please visit our jobs page at https://jobapscloud.com/tucson/. The starting salary is 12.15/hr and they are taking applications through June 20th.

Along with reopening the pools, Parks and Recreation is starting swim lessons on a limited basis. There will be two sessions, July 6-16 and July 19-30. Separate classes will be available for parents and children. Registration will begin on Monday, June 14, at 9 a.m. Visit EZEEreg.com for locations, and to sign up.

I got some good news from our Parks and Recreation Department. Our recreation centers will reopen for limited use by reservation only. This does not include the Udall Recreation Center, which is currently being used as a vaccination site.

Centers will be open for weight room and walking track use only. All memberships will continue to be suspended through the end of the calendar year. If you would like to reactivate an existing membership or have questions about your membership, call or visit an open recreation center. Members of the public can pay the daily fee or use a membership pass. If you have questions about your membership or would like to make changes, call the Recreation Center near you. Reservations can be made beginning Sunday, June 13, at 8 a.m.

The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at Udall Park (7290 E Tanque Verde) on July 9th. The Red Cross will be taking donations by appointment between 9 am and 2 pm that day. For more information, call 1 800 733-2767 or visit redcrossblood.org. Remember to use the code WARD2.

My office has been happy to facilitate this event in the past, and I’m proud that Ward 2 residents have come through to give blood. I hope all of you that can donate take the opportunity to do so.
