One City, One County, One Community Unity Event Held

TUCSON – Residents of Tucson and Pima County came together to mark “One City, One County, One Community.”
This event was held, Thursday, August 24, at Tucson’s City Hall, first floor conference room, and was organized by Ward 5 Councilmember Richard Fimbres. “I would like to thank my Chief of Staff, Mark Kerr, and my aide, Lupita Robles, for coordinating this event.”

TUCSON DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION OPERATION SPLASH SANDBAG DISTRIBUTION SITES – RODEO GROUNDS AND HI CORBETT

To assist residents with property protection from potential flooding due to monsoon storms, the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) will distribute free sandbags in the north parking lot of the Tucson Rodeo Grounds, 4823 S. Sixth Avenue every Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. until further notice.
In addition to the Tucson Rodeo Grounds, a self-serve sandbag site is now open in the east parking lot of Hi Corbett Field, 700 S. Randolph Way, at Reid Park. At this location, residents should bring their own shovel and will fill their own sandbags.
Operations Division South Community Meeting, July 27

Community Water Forum Set for Saturday
Ward 5 Council Member Richard Fimbres and Tucson Vice Mayor/Ward 1 Council Member Regina Romero will host an open house on Saturday, July 15, regarding the Tucson International Airport Area (TIAA) Superfund Site and Tucson Water's commitment to clean and safe drinking water. The EPA will also be making a presentation on their options for the Superfund Site.

As Fourth of July celebrations kick off, many people will travel, fire up the grill or enjoy fireworks.
In a news release, the American Red Cross offered reminders on travel safety, firework safety and grilling safety.
» Buckle seat belts.
» Observe speed limits.
» Don't drink and drive.
» Pay full attention to the road — don't use a cell phone to call or text.
» Clean off vehicle lights and windows.
» Turn on headlights at dusk or during inclement weather.
Fourth of July - Pet Tips

Not every member of the family may enjoy the fireworks, pets included. The Pima Animal Care Center is offering a few safety tips for pet owners during the Fourth of July.
Remember the following tips, to help reduce the number of lost pets this holiday:
Keep your pets inside during the fireworks.
Make sure your pet wears proper up-to-date identification in case he becomes lost.
Provide your pet with calming and distracting items, such as classical music, a ThunderShirt, or enrichment toys like a KONG filled with peanut butter.

CHANGE IN RECYCLING SURCHARGE ON APRIL UTILITY SERVICES BILLS

City of Tucson Environmental Services Customers will receive a credit of forty-five cents on
their April Utility Services bill. The credit reflects a fifteen cents reduction in the Recycling Surcharge for
January, February, and March. As of January 1, 2017, the Recycling Surcharge was reduced to thirty
A Recycling Surcharge of forty-five cents was implemented in July 2016. As recycling revenues

12th Avenue Roadwork Update

Here is an update on the Road Recovery Bond Program work on 12th Avenue, Valencia Road and Plumer Avenue.
Crews continue to raise manhole covers and water valve covers on 12th Avenue from 44th Street to Santa Paula (Valencia). This work is scheduled to be complete by Friday, April 28, 2017. Travel lane restrictions will be in place to allow concrete to cure for 24 hours.
